Looking for Senior Scientist to join Epic Team

Job Description
Epic Sciences is currently seeking a talented and innovative SENIOR SCIENTIST to join our company in San Diego, California. As a SENIOR SCIENTIST, you will be working with a team that is responsible for the research, development, optimization, and implementation of cell-based protein and molecular assays. You will also help manage assay development projects by providing scientific input and executing against milestones to meet timelines. In this role, you will actively participate in a multidisciplinary team developing oncology based diagnostic tests.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Independently research, develop, and implement protein and molecular cell-based assays useful for the characterization of Pharma specific therapeutic targets on circulating tumor cells
  • Independently research, analyze data, interpret results, and provide weekly summaries on assay development projects to supervisor
  • Able to troubleshoot effectively and generate creative solutions in order to solve scientific problems
  • Able to clearly communicate results in oral and written presentations
  • Able to write detailed protocols, procedures, and SOPs
  • Fluency with general biology lab procedures such as immunofluorescent assays, IHC, FISH, fluorescent microscopy and cell-imaging
  • Manage assay development projects on a daily basis providing scientific input, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff
  • Maintain proper records and complete all work in compliance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and SOPs
  • Able to prioritize tasks and multitask as well as accomplish tasks that require departmental effort to meet demanding timelines and workloads


Requirements

  • PhD in biological sciences with relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cellular biology, immunology, and diagnostics
  • Previous experience in a compliant laboratory environment (such as GLP, GMP, and/or CLIA) is preferred
  • Experience with culture of mammalian cell lines
  • Experience with immunofluorescent assays, IHC, FISH, and fluorescent microscopy
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, and implementation of cellular and molecular assays
  • Experience working independently and with a team
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of biostatistics
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Image J, and GraphPad
