Epic Sciences will be participating in the Relay for Life August 15 and 16 here in San Diego. Join us in honoring cancer survivors, remembering those we have lost and to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Our tent will be on the marina side of the Embarcadero.

Our Epic Gives Back program is a key element of our work culture, and we strive to give back to the community as much as we can. Seeing that National Volunteer Week, which takes place April 12-18 this year, is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to go out and engage others in their community, we are recognizing all our volunteer’s efforts the past year.

Last week, the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s Vice President of Movember Initiatives presented a plaque to commemorate Laura Leitz, research assistant at Epic Sciences, for her commitment to Movember and fighting cancer.

On November 21st from 8:45 to 11:30 am, Epic will have a cheer station to support the participants of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk in San Diego. Epic will be handing out cold refreshments and bracelets outside the Hilton in Mission Bay.

On November 17th from 5 pm to 9 pm, Epic will be holding our annual Movember party at Rock Bottom in their Pinnacle room upstairs. Everyone is welcome and 15% of the total spent will be donated to the Movember foundation for our team, EPIC STACHES. In addition, all-Movember (and December) long Epic is holding a Teddy Bear Drive. The bears collected will be donated to Rady’s Children Hospital.

On April 22nd from 5 pm to 8 pm, Epic will be going to the Ronald McDonald House to cook a meal for all of the families staying there and to do arts and crafts. There will be approximately 150-175 people that will be attending. For arts and crafts we are going to have two stations set up, one for making loom bracelets and one for making cards (crayons, chalk, stamps, stencils, etc.).

On Movember, oops, we mean November 21, our team, EPIC STACHES, will have a fundraiser for Movember at Pizza Port Solana Beach. From 5-7 pm, Pizza Port has graciously agreed to donate 20% of all the proceeds to Epic’s Movember Team.

On October 17, Epic will be participating in the Wheel to Survive San Diego to support the Clearity Foundation.

On August 18th, Epic will be Surfing for a Cure! By celebrating the “aloha” spirit in the fight against cancer, we are approaching $6 million raised for cutting edge cancer research and care at the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center.

On July 27th, Epic’s own Amanda Anderson will be representing Epic at the 13th Annual Barb’s Race. Barb’s Race consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run and is the only all women's half distance triathlon in the world.
